David Aplin Group, one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, has partnered with our client, a well-established entity in food production to recruit for a Production Manager – (Continental Shift) for their facility in Guelph, ON. This position will work within an organization that would support environmentally conscious agricultural practices.
Reporting to the CEO, the Production Manager will provide leadership and direction to production staff to ensure the highest levels of safety, productivity, and morale.
The Role:
- Collaborate with the management team to plan and monitor production activities to ensure daily targets are met and are in accordance with production plans.
- Oversee all areas of the production process including but not limited to harvesting, packing, cleaning, shipping and receiving.
- Ensure that all workstations are producing product of high-quality standards.
- Ensure effective and efficient use of all resources (human and financial).
- Coach, train and provide guidance to production staff in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.
- Address disciplinary concerns and lead performance reviews for staff.
- Coordinate daily production floor activities and delegate assignments to staff.
- Ensure production staff receive the training required to complete tasks assigned.
- Monitor and enforce safety and personnel policies and procedures.
- Always adhere, safeguard and comply with the Standard Sanitization Operating Procedures, Standard Operation Procedures, Occupational Health and Safety Act and GMP.
The Ideal Candidate:
- 5 to 7 years of experience in an operational or production leadership type role within food manufacturing.
- Technically skilled with the ability to work with and around heavily automated equipment.
- Working knowledge of food regulatory standards (CFIA, GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality). Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and must be able to function as part of multiple teams in a fast-paced and multi-task environment.
- Should have knowledge of MS Office, Word and Excel.
